Samsung’s Galaxy S7 edge won’t be going on sale until March 11th but one lucky user got their copy of the device early and posted some detailed impressions of it over at Reddit’s /r/Android page. In short, the user found a lot to love in the device and confirmed our impressions that the S7 edge will be the Android smartphone to beat in 2016.

First of all, the user noted a significant improvement in battery life for the new device compared to last year’s model:

Let’s get this out of the way first: battery life- seems like an absolute beast so far. I’ve been using it non stop for the past few hours and I’m at 85%. With this same usage I would probably be at 40% or so on my s6 edge already.

This held up beyond early impressions and lasted throughout a day of usage as well:

Screen on time started at 87% battery as I had to shut my phone off to activate T-Mobile, which reset my battery stats. I still managed to get 6 hours SOT from 87% to 12% with extremely heavy usage, including downloading 50+ apps and setting everything up. I’m impressed. Always on display on the entire time too.

The S7 edge features a 3,600 mAh battery, so it’s not surprising to hear that it gets first-rate battery life for a flagship phone.

The battery wasn’t the only noteworthy feature of the S7 edge, however. Below are some other impressions of the device.

On the S7 edge’s video taking capabilities:

[I’m] not liking how the 60fps video isn’t as smooth as my s6 video. The s7 also seems to lose focus quite a bit.

On its front-facing camera:

The front facing camera is terrible compared to the one on the s6 unless I’m doing something wrong. Everything is very muddy/soft.

On the displays responsiveness to typing:

I’m using Google keyboard on my s7 now and the input response is amazing. No lag/hiccups/etc. So far it’s awesome.

On the device’s overall look and design:

Looks very premium. I don’t see how it would look plastic. The silver and gold are way more flashy though because of how much light they reflect.

The user also posted some AnTuTu benchmark scores and the device received test results of 125,000, 93,000 and 95,000 over the span of three tries.
