With Rando, a new iPhone app that’s available starting Thursday, you’ll be able to beat boredom whenever it strikes. Rather than finding apps and games to fiddle around to pass the time, Rando offers something a lot better: Random conversation starters that will almost always lead to hilarious chats with your friends.

The app lets users select a random photo, GIF or quote, and then sends it to a contact using messaging apps or social media platforms like iMessage, text messages, Facebook and Twitter.
The content is picked randomly from your phone or from Giphy, but you’ll be able to censor it if you want. That means you’re still in control of the pictures and content that’s sent over, so you could prevent accidentally sharing certain private images with your contacts. Of course if you’re really brave, the app also lets you send content without previewing it, using a “Send Blindly” mode.
As the developer puts it, Rando can be a “conversation starter… or stopper,” depending of what you send and who’s at the other end.
The animation above shows you how Rando works, but you can also just check it out for yourself. Rando is available as a free download from the App Store, at this link.
