Since Apple first released iOS 9 back in September last year, the company’s subsequent software updates have mostly been about housekeeping. A few new features have been added here and there, but we’re sure most users would agree that nothing earth-shattering has been introduced in iOS 9.1 or iOS 9.2.

We’re not sure the new features Apple added in its first iOS 9.3 beta qualify as earth-shattering either, but there’s little question that they have users excited. And as has been the case in the past, you can install Apple’s new beta software on your iPhone without paying $99 for a developer account.

Apple had gone to great lengths in the past to prevent non-developers from installing its iOS beta software on their phones. The logic was simple: Beta software is unstable and letting regular users install it on their phones can lead to headaches for them and headaches for Apple’s support staff.

Now, however, Apple is taking a much more laid back approach. It doesn’t block non-developers from activating their phones with beta software installed, and it even offers a public beta program that anyone can join. Apple’s more lax approach is of particular interest right now because there are some new features in the iOS 9.3 beta that iPhone owners can’t wait to get their hands on — Night Shift, in particular.

Check out our earlier coverage for information on Night Shift and the four other best new features in iOS 9.3.

As he always does, YouTube user Tanner Marsh has created a new video that covers everything in the new iOS 9.3 beta. He also discusses how to install iOS 9.3 on an iPhone if you have a developer account, how the new software will impact jailbroken phones, and how to install iOS 9.3 without a developer account. It’s very simple if you’re willing to perform a quick Google search to find the download, and Marsh’s video is embedded below with all the details.
