Love it or hate it, no one can argue that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s are unattractive phones. Apple has always had an incredible collective sense of style and design, and that extended to the iPhone right out of the gate in 2007. Perhaps that’s why so many of Apple’s rivals have copied the company’s designs so shameless time and time again. As great as Apple’s designs are though, there are always people who wish something was a little different — no antenna lines, or a flat back instead of a camera bump.

One wish in particular has made the rounds quite frequently over the past two years: people want a gold iPhone with a black face. The bad news is that there’s no sign Apple has plans to offer this sought-after color combo anytime soon. And the worse news for people who want a black and gold iPhone is that it looks even better than you thought it would.

If you’ve been pining after a black and gold iPhone ever since Apple first launched the iPhone 6, Reddit user The_Gold_Gatsby is now your best friend (and your worst enemy, since you’re about to get a taste of something you’ll never have). He or she took two iPhone 6 Plus units and performed some serious surgery to build a Frankenstein that looks even better than you thought it would.

“I’ve seen a few posts on this subreddit of Black and Gold iPhone 6/ 6 plus’s but in those posts,” the user wrote in a post on Reddit. “They replace the screen, not the body, so they’re left with a sleek black screen, interrupted by a white button! There’s also been a few pictures of photoshopped versions oh the black face, with a gold body but renders don’t count!”

The Redditor continued, “Recently I took the risk of gutting my Space Grey iPhone 6 Plus and transferring it to a gold body. At first I was trying to think of a way to get the touch ID to have a gold ring, but after a few days I realized it looks much better without! Many people purchase the black iPhone for the black screen because when it’s off, it’s a clean black surface. I’m not saying a gold ring wouldn’t look cool but it’d distract from the sleek black surface. I’ve been very happy with the results over the past few days and I really wanted to share with other people that also might appreciate it and maybe try it out themselves! Cheers!”
