It looks like AT&T is done messing around. The carrier on Monday announced that starting right now it will offer up to $650 in credits per line to customers who are switching from other carriers. The process for getting these credits is pretty simple: Buy a new phone through AT&T Next, activate your service, port your current number and then trade in an eligible phone.

This is a significant upgrade from AT&T’s previous offer where it gave you $300 in total credits if you switched from another carrier and traded in an eligible phone. T-Mobile, of course, got the ball rolling with these sorts of offers just over two years ago when it started offering subscribers from other carriers up to $650 per line for switching.

“These offers are some of our best to date,” said AT&T Mobility CEO Glenn Lurie. “Our $650 credit is a great reward for new customers who switch to AT&T and our buy-one, get-one free is another great reward for our valued customers in the market for new smartphones.  There has never been a better time for new and existing AT&T customers to rack up the savings.”

This deal could be especially good for DirecTV subscribers who also subscribe to a non-AT&T mobile service, as they’ll not only be eligible for the $650 in credits for switching but they will also be able to subscribe to AT&T’s special unlimited data plan.
