Meet Liam, the closest robot we have to WALL-E

In addition to launching new products including the iPhone SE and 9.7-inch iPad Pro, Apple also introduced a robot called Liam, a robot that immediately drew comparisons to WALL-E. Essentially, Liam is a robot that disassembles non-functional iPhones into several parts that can be recycled.

In a video about its new robot, Apple explained how Liam works. The robot’s program detects iPhone parts and extracts them accordingly. Then, the various chemical components of those parts will be recycled and used in other products.

The video below shows Liam in action. And while it’s not ready to meet its Eve just yet, Liam is about as close to WALL-E as we can get.
