After a collection of Windows 9 images were leaked earlier this week, showing the operating system’s most important feature, German publication WinFuture.de published a video on YouTube giving fans a first look at the new Start menu in action.
FROM EARLIER: This is the Windows 9 leak we’ve been waiting for
The upcoming desktop OS will finally bring back the Start menu, as Microsoft previously promised, one of the most iconic elements of Windows, which the company inexplicably removed in the previous version.
The Start menu is coming back, and the video shows how it’s supposed to work. Apparently users will be able to either enable it, or use the Metro UI as it’s currently available. Once enabled, the Start menu will bring over a new kind of Metro-infused interface compared to what the Start menu used to look like on Windows, letting users customize it as they please, in a similar manner to what they can do with Metro UI on desktop or mobile.
Microsoft is expected to release the first Windows 9 preview at the end of the month, at which point more details about its features should be available to fans.
