Sony’s upcoming smartphone, previously referred to as Honami and Xperia i1, now has an official name to go along with a set of leaked press images ahead of the September 4th reveal. The Xperia Z1 will be Sony’s next phone, replacing the Xperia Z as Sony’s flagship device. The press images from Xperia Blog show off a design that is very similar to the Xperia Z, although the most notable difference is the proudly displayed 20.7-megapixel camera, which would be a significant jump over the 13-megapixel camera on board the original Xperia Z.
Xperia Blog also obtained images of Sony’s Xperia Z1 press release, which confirms many of the previously leaked specifications, including the Snapdragon 800 quad-core 2.2GHz processor, a 3,000 mAh battery, 2GB of RAM, and a choice of three colors: black, white and purple. Hopefully we will see the phone in action on Wednesday during Sony’s IFA press conference. The leaked press release and photos can be seen below.
