Samsung is reportedly getting ready to beat Apple to the punch by unveiling its own smartwatch in September ahead of the annual IFA trade show in Berlin, Germany. A new report from Patently Apple claims that Samsung is planning to show off the new “Samsung Gear” smartwatch in early September during a press conference that will also see the Galaxy Note III unveiled. The site makes no mention of any sources, anonymous or otherwise, in issuing the report. Samsung confirmed this past March that it is developing a smartwatch, though it gave no timeframe as far as an unveiling is concerned. An earlier leak seemingly revealed screenshots from the device’s interface, though it is unclear if the UI will be the same at launch. Recent reports suggest Apple might not debut its “iWatch” until sometime next year.
