Recent reports suggest that Samsung is preparing to launch a Galaxy Watch as rival Apple’s reportedly prepares its own “iWatch.” Little is known about the device, although it may be released in the coming months. Now, purported screenshots of the watch’s interface surfaced on Thursday leading to more speculation that Samsung (005930) is prepared to enter the smartwatch market. The images originated on a Korean message board and they refer to the device by the codename “Galaxy Altius.”

A writer at SamMobile casts doubt on the images’ possible authenticity by noting that the name “Altius” is thought to be the codename of the Galaxy S IV smartphone, and Samsung has never before put a codename on a splash screen. In addition, SamMobile writes that the user interface “doesn’t meet Samsung’s UX guidelines” and the company has never used mirror effects on its branding.

Lastly, the image below shows that while it is called the “Altius,” the code says “Altios.”
