Kill your cable now: The best TV car show ever is coming exclusively to Netflix

Netflix Top Gear TV Car Show

If you like car shows on TV, then you’re hardly going to find a more entertaining show than Top Gear. That said, the best TV car show ever was recently thrown into turmoil after the BBC fired Jeremy Clarkson. However, Top Gear is reportedly moving on to a new, far more popular home, as Netflix is looking to hire the Top Gear trio for a car show of its own.

The Daily Mirror’s sources say that James May and Richard Hammond have turned down the BBC’s $7.1 million offer to return to Top Gear for two more years. Instead, the two are apparently planning to join Clarkson and executive producer Andy Wilman in a “big-money” deal with Netflix.

“Flattering though it is to be offered huge sums there’ll be no going back. It wouldn’t feel right and their heart wouldn’t be in it,” the insider said about the trio. “They’ve always said they come as a team and that hasn’t changed.”

“They are all very excited at the prospect of having total editorial control over their new show, to make it and get it distributed. It would be groundbreaking and also incredible lucrative. They would stand to earn much, much more than they would with the BBC.”

Assuming the rumors are true, then you have one more reason to cut the cord, as the best TV car show on earth might soon be hitting your Netflix queue. The only downside is that Netflix will likely have to call it something else, while BBC will struggle to find new hosts for its almost-dead Top Gear franchise.
