We have never seen a worse name for a smartwatch. We could try for days and probably not come up with anything worse than “LG Watch Urbane.” More importantly, however, we have never seen a more beautiful Android Wear smartwatch, and it looks like the soon-to-be-released Apple Watch will actually have some real competition when it launches in the coming months.
DON’T MISS: This is probably our best look yet at the Galaxy S6
LG on Monday unveiled a brand new smartwatch… that it plans to unveil at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain next month.
We know, that seems a bit odd, but with all the attention at MWC on hot flagship smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S6 and HTC One M9, LG needed to ensure that its sleek new accessory enjoyed at least some time in the spotlight.
The new LG Watch Urbane features a gorgeous metal case with a design that looks more like a real luxury timepiece than anything we’ve seen to date. And yes, by some accounts, that includes the upcoming Apple Watch.
“The LG Watch Urbane’s classic design and smart features make it the perfect smartwatch to complement our G Watch and G Watch R, which were designed as more casual and active devices,” said LG Mobile CEO Juno Cho. “LG Watch Urbane is an important part of our strategy to develop wearable devices that are worn and viewed as everyday accessories, not electronic gadgets.”
Here are the device’s key specs:
