The LG G3 flagship handset is yet to hit most markets including the U.S., but new reports already detail an even better G3 version than the one unveiled a few weeks ago. According to South Korean publication Naver, a G3 model with a faster Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor and a faster MDM9635 modem that would allow theoretical download speeds of up to 225Mbps will launch in July.
It’s not clear at this time when the faster G3 model might launch, or in which markets.
Recent reports revealed that the Galaxy S5 Prime smartphone will also pack a MDM9635 model from Qualcomm, although it’s not clear when Samsung will release this model.
Interestingly, an LG G Prime trademark has been recently discovered, which seems to suggest the South Korean giant may have Prime thoughts of its own – additionally, Phone Arena reports that F Prime, L Prime and W Prime models have also been revealed.
The G3 models LG unveiled on stage during its late-May media event are similar when it comes to processor choice, both packing a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 CPU. The differences between them concerns memory and storage, with LG planning to sell a model with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage and a version with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.
All major U.S. carriers have confirmed they will carry the G3, without specifying actual launch dates or prices.
