Apple’s iPhone operating system started out so painfully simple that many smartphone users at the time just laughed. As it turned out, the world was dying for a simpler operating system for phones, and Apple’s iPhone flipped the industry on its head.

It’s been a long time since the iPhone was first introduced though, and Apple’s mobile software has continued to grow more complex each year. The world has grown accustomed to iOS, of course, so adding new features and flushing out existing functionality is a necessity.

But in the process, some pretty cool things get lost in the shuffle.

We always cover nifty tips and tricks here on BGR, and often times we focus on Android and iOS in particular. Apart from being wildly popular, these two mobile platforms pack plenty of punch that many users aren’t aware of, because they get into a groove after a while and stop exploring.

This past weekend, we were reminded of a nifty iPhone trick that most people probably never knew existed.

How many times have you started to write an email in the Mail app, and then decided you needed to search for another email that you want to refer to? Next time that happens, use this handy trick to save your email as a draft with one swipe, and then get back to it with just a tap.

Simply tap and hold on the subject at the top of your email window, and then drag it down toward the keyboard. The email will then be saved as a draft and minimized, and you’ll see it lurking at the bottom of your screen.

Do what you need to do in the Mail app, and then just tap that subject line at the bottom of your screen to open the draft email again so you can finish it.

It’s that easy.
