Originally published by MacRumors, a new research note from reputable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI securities reveals that Apple’s upcoming iPhone SE will pack an even greater punch than initially anticipated. According to Kuo, the upcoming 4-inch iPhone SE will feature a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera, a notable upgrade from the 8 megapixel camera some previous reports alluded to.

Kuo’s report also corroborates a number of other rumors that have surfaced in recent months, namely that Apple’s new 4-inch iPhone will come with an NFC chip for Apple Pay functionality, the same A9 processor Apple introduced with its iPhone 6s models, 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2.

What’s more, it’s believed that the iPhone SE will come with a slightly larger battery relative to the iPhone 5s, but it remains to be seen if this ultimately translates into improved battery life. Capacity wise, the report relays that Apple’s new iPhone will likely come in two variants, a 16GB model and a 64GB model.

With respect to pricing, Kuo believes that the iPhone SE will cost anywhere between $400 and $500, decidedly lower than the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus which retail for $649 and $749 respectively.

In conjunction with the iPhone SE release, the report adds that Apple will cut the price of the 2+ year old iPhone 5s in half, down to $225.

Apple is expected to hold a special media event where it will announce the iPhone SE, along with a new iPad Pro model and some minor Apple Watch enhancements, sometime next month.
