Apple hasn’t yet sent out invitations for its rumored September 9th iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus launch event, but the company is already reportedly preparing for a massive fall press conference bigger in scope than any previous announcements.

According to Hoodline, Apple may be the mysterious company that rented Bill Graham Civic Auditorium from September 4th to September 13th to host a “private event,” also described as a “trade show” in applications filed with the Planning Department. Security guards and SFPD are patrolling the area around the building and aren’t able to share more details about the event.
The venue will be closed until September 13th, with the event set to run from September 4th to September 10th. As the site notes, that’s an unusual period for hosting any trade show, as the dates span the Labor Day holiday. Furthermore, there aren’t any clues that a trade show or any other kind of event will take place in that building.
Finally, documentation with the Planning Department also shows that huge signage will be used to promote the event (see image below). Four windows will be removed to make way for a 15-foot-tall fiberboard logo that will hang on the exterior of the building, and it may have an odd shape.
Combine all that with a credible report that Apple’s iPhone 6s event is set for September 9th, and you reach the same obvious conclusion: Apple may have rented the entire space, making sure that nobody reveals anything about what’s happening in there.
If the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium doesn’t have ring a bell, then you should know that this is where Apple’s Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak introduced the Apple II to the world in April 1977.
The auditorium would easily seat 7,000 people. If Apple is indeed the mysterious renter, then the company is indeed planning a massive iPhone 6s launch, much bigger than previous events. Comparatively, the Yerba Buena Center and Flit Center hold 1,470 and 2,400 people, respectively, Apple Insider notes.
The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus aren’t the only stars of Apple’s upcoming event, although they will certainly be the main focus for journalists who will attend the keynote. The company is rumored to also be announcing new
