Apple’s (AAPL) much-rumored “iPad mini” is expected to launch this fall and take a huge bite out of the market share budget-priced Android tablets like the Kindle Fire were able to steal over the past year. While information regarding the look of the smaller iPad has been based mostly on speculation at this point, Chinese blog Giz-China.com has published images of what it claims to be third-party cases that reveal the iPad mini’s design. The images depict a device that is in line with rumors, with a slim aluminum housing and a camera on the back. The iPad mini is also expected to feature a 7.85-inch display. In Apple’s quest to become a trillion-dollar company, the iPad mini could play a huge role by pushing a new group of consumers into an iPad purchase thanks to the allure of a sub-$300 Apple tablet; the iPad mini is expected to launch in October for between $249 and $299.
