Apple is expected to launch a bunch of new iPads later this year, including the bigger 12.9-inch iPad Pro that appears to be set for a 2015 launch. Chinese news site Economic Daily News, which has featured plenty of Apple rumors in the past, says that Foxconn has scored orders for the 12.9-inch iPad and also for a refreshed iPad mini 4.
Apparently, Apple wants to make the bigger iPad the flagship tablet this year, and that’s why a major iPad Air 3 refresh isn’t in the making. A new iPad Air might not be released until 2016, Fubon Hardware investment advisor Liaoxian Li told the site.
As MacRumors points out, Apple could always launch a minimally upgraded iPad Air 3 this year, in line with what it did with the iPad mini 3 last fall.
