Google reportedly plans to take its Fiber show on the road

While there have long been rumors that Google (GOOG) wants to expand its Google Fiber Internet and television service to places beyond Kansas City, Capstone analyst Rory Maher on Tuesday said he’s heard from knowledgeable sources that Google is planning to accept new bids for Google Fiber in the near future. According to Business Insider, Maher has heard directly from “people close to the situation in Kansas City” who say that “Google has made it clear more cities will likely be bidding for Fiber soon.” If Google does decide to build out fiber in other major cities, it will certainly create waves of panic among cable providers, which likely won’t be able to offer any service that’s close to matching Google’s 1Gbps fiber-to-the-home connectivity.
