Samsung still hasn’t announced when its hot new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge will finally be released in the United States, but our neighbors up north have already spent plenty of time with the sleek new phones. You shouldn’t be jealous of your Canadian friends, however — instead, enjoy the fact that we’re seeing some nice informative content trickle down for us to all enjoy while we wait for a stateside launch.

In this latest example, Samsung’s new Galaxy S6 has been pitted against the tried and true iPhone 6 Plus in a camera shootout for the ages.

Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus camera is easily one of the best smartphone cameras the world has ever seen. The unit’s low megapixel count compared to rivals means absolutely nothing, as we’ve seen proven time and time again. Photos captured on the 6 Plus are simply stunning.

But now, it looks like Samsung has finally shifted its focus away from merely increasing its megapixel count in the Galaxy S6, instead offering significantly improved performance from a camera with the same resolution as the one found in last year’s Galaxy S5.

So, how did Samsung do?

Canadian blog Mobile Syrup recently put the Galaxy S6’s new and improved 16-megapixel camera to the test against the iPhone 6 Plus in a massive camera shootout that covers plenty of different scenes. Outdoors, indoors, great lighting, low light… all the bases are covered in this terrific camera comparison.

And in the end, the results might shock you.

A few samples from the comparison can be seen below (click to view them at full size), and a link to the full camera shootout can be found down in our source section.
