Apple launched the iPhone 6 back in mid-September, so it’s now time for Samsung to come out with its own version of the hugely popular handset. At least that appears to be the conclusion of two different reports, one detailing the phone’s design and features, and one actually providing images of the Galaxy S6’s metal chassis.

FROM EARLIER: The iPhone 6 might be low-res, but Apple’s highest-resolution device ever is coming soon

A new report from The Korea Times says that the Galaxy S6 will bring an improved design and new features, with Samsung hoping to win back some of the customers it lost to Apple’s iPhone 6.

“The Galaxy S6 will make its debut in two versions ― flat and rounded screens,” an executive at a local parts supplier told the publication. “It will have a metal build, which will make it look even more like Apple’s latest models.”

Apparently, the Galaxy S6 will have glass on the front and back, the publication says, further adding that the company dropped its plan to adopt a dual-edge design for the handset “due to concerns over defect rates of curved glasses.”

The handset is supposed to have a 5.1-inch AMOLED display and Samsung’s new Exynos chip, though Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 chip will also equip certain versions of the phone in the future, despite what recent reports said.

Interestingly, the phone is supposed to pack a new-generation lithium-polymer battery, that’s even smaller and cooler than predecessors. The battery will not be user-replaceable like on previous Galaxy S6 versions.

Finally, the phone is supposed to come with an Apple Pay rival on board, a mobile payment solution called Samsung Pay, which BGR reported exclusively not too long ago, and which on Tuesday was further detailed in a different story from South Korea.

Further confirming The Korea Times’ Galaxy S6 design claims is French publication Nowhereelse, which scored an impressive collection of images showing the alleged metal chassis of the phone.

As seen in the image gallery at the end of this post, the Galaxy S6 design appears to be in line with what leaked schematics suggested on Monday, especially when looking at rear camera and heart rate sensor placement, and iPhone 6-like bottom side headphone jack, charging port and speaker arrangement.

The metal chassis images suggest the Galaxy S6 will have a thin profile, rounder edges and round corners. Combined, these elements will immediately remind some users of the iPhone 6 design.

On the other hand, Apple does not own square, round, thin, cool, “beautiful or sexy.”
