We’re just months away from the unveiling of Samsung’s 2015 flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S6, and it seems like we have been waiting forever. It’s not that the rumor cycle has been particularly long this time around, it’s that the Galaxy S5 was a pretty big disappointment all around, and smartphone fans are hoping that the Galaxy S6 makes up for lost time.

Whether or not the Galaxy S6 actually will be the innovative phone we’ve been waiting for remains to be seen, but so far early rumors have definitely been promising. Now, another new report suggests that Samsung is definitely moving in the right direction with this year’s Galaxy S6.

Several reports have suggested that Samsung went back to the drawing board with the Galaxy S6. Instead of releasing yet another Galaxy S iteration in 2015, Samsung supposedly designed the Galaxy S6 from scratch, and the hardware will apparently sport some exciting new features that will wow us.

Some reports say that the phone will feature “edge panels” similar to the one on the Galaxy Note Edge, though it’s currently unclear whether or not the edge panel is actually a draw for consumers.

Beyond the hardware design, a new report from BusinessKorea now suggests that Samsung’s software is getting a pretty extensive overhaul as well. While the company’s TouchWiz user interface layer won’t be completely removed from the Galaxy S6 — sorry, Android enthusiasts — the website’s sources claim that the software will be reengineered and optimized so that it runs as smooth as Android does on the Nexus 6.

That’s certainly a bold claim considering how smooth the Nexus 6 is, and if Samsung can pull it off along with some meaningful and exciting hardware revisions, we really could be in store for a huge Galaxy S update in 2015.
