Admittedly, the demo for Final Fantasy XV was a huge part of why I was so excited about Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, but this action-heavy spinoff is a great game in its own right.
In case you weren’t aware, Square Enix released a Final Fantasy spinoff on the PSP in 2011 entitled Final Fantasy Type-0. Four years later, the company has decided to port the portable game to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and although the visuals aren’t quite on par with what most people expect from the series, the gameplay is a nice change of pace.

In Type-0 HD, you are in control of 14 different characters, each of which have their own weapons, their own skills and their own personalities. You can only bring 3 of them into battle at any given time, so it becomes a balancing act trying to decide who to put at the top of the list and when to switch out for a new character.
There was too much to fit into a single video, but I managed to get most of the vital information into this 50+ minute video. So if you were looking for a primer on Type-0, you’re in luck.
