Facebook’s mobile apps are some of the most popular apps in the world, used by hundreds of millions of people from all walks of life. The main Facebook app is obviously its most popular one, but other apps like Messenger and Instagram also have huge user bases. But did you know that Facebook has an app that almost no one uses by comparison? This particular app is unpopular by design, because it’s not open to the public. Instead, it’s intended for use only by famous people — but you’re about to get a rare inside look at this mysterious app.

Meet Facebook Mentions, an exclusive mobile app that was built to help famous people monitor what fans (and haters) are saying about them. According to Facebook, the app provides “a better way for actors, athletes, journalists and other public figures to stay in touch with their followers and the people and topics they care about.”

Interestingly, the app isn’t just for monitoring mentions on Facebook. It also allows celebrities to monitor activity on Facebook’s Instagram network, as well as on Twitter.

Even more interestingly, perhaps, it’s only available for Apple’s iPhone and iPad, with no Android version in sight. Facebook said back in February that it was working on an Android build, but nothing has been released at this point.

As Business Insider noted, bloggers and journalists can now have their accounts verified by Facebook, giving them access to the Mentions app. While Mentions is obviously only useful if your name is mentioned all the time on social media, the site took this opportunity to give us a rare inside look at the app.
