Marvel’s first foray into the world of streaming TV was apparently a success, as the company announced late on Tuesday evening that Daredevil will be returning to Netflix for a second season next year.

Doug Petrie (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Marco Ramirez (Sons of Anarchy) will serve as showrunners, with Drew Goddard returning as an executive producer. Steven DeKnight, the first season’s showrunner, has confirmed that he will not be back for season 2.

“While previous commitments unfortunately prevent me from continuing on with Daredevil into its second season,” DeKnight explains, “I could not be happier that Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez are carrying the torch. They were invaluable collaborators during our first season, and I for one can’t wait to see what they do with the show moving forward.”

While we’re waiting for the next chapter of the darkest storyline in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the publisher is preparing a whole slew of properties for Netflix, including A.K.A. Jessica Jones, which will debut before the end of 2015. Next year, Marvel will launch its Luke Cage series, with Iron Fist and the Defenders miniseries to follow.

In the meantime, if you haven’t binged through the first season of Daredevil yet, set aside a few hours this weekend — it’s one of Marvel’s best multimedia projects to date.
