How to clean up your iPhone before you download iOS 9

If you own an iPhone, you’re probably either considering updating, in the process of downloading the update or have just finished updating to iOS 9. No matter which category you fall into, you might want to take this opportunity to clean up your phone and make it feel new again (especially if you aren’t upgrading to the iPhone 6s later this year).

This is a topic we’ve covered several times throughout the history of BGR, but as with any ongoing project, sometimes we need a shove in the right direction to get us back on track. This week, that shove comes courtesy of CNET, which has put together a one-minute video outlining a few simple ways to tidy up your phone.

Here’s a list of everything discussed in the video, in case you don’t have 60 full seconds to spare:

  1. Delete apps you don’t use anymore
  2. Transfer photos and videos to your computer, then delete them off of your phone
  3. Turn off notifications you don’t need

This advice looks almost offensively obvious at first glance, but as I scroll through the sixth page full of apps I haven’t touched in months, I’m beginning to understand the point of the video. You can watch the whole thing below:
