Projectors aren’t cheap, but what if I told you that you could build one for your iPhone with some stray materials laying around your house? Business Insider has put together a video tutorial showing off how to build an iPhone projector for less than $10, so if you’re looking for a DIY project to occupy yourself with this week, keep reading.

To start, you’ll need the following items:
- Shoebox
- iPhone
- Magnifying glass
- X-ACTO knife
- Play-Doh
- Marker
- Tape / glue
Anything you don’t have on hand you should be able to find at a major retailer or hobby shop in your area.
Once you’ve acquired the necessary tools, you’ll need to cut a hole in the box the same shape as the magnifying glass (without the handle). With the lens in place, the next step is to turn off the lights, put your iPhone in the box and slide it away from the lens until you see a clear picture on the viewing surface you’ve chosen.
Once you’ve found the perfect position, you can use the Play-Doh to hold the phone in place. You might want to use a case, just so you don’t get any Play-Doh inside of the phone. Once you’ve finished setting up the “hardware” (as it were), you’ll need to enable a few settings on the iPhone to ensure the picture is right-side up.
