Microsoft spent a massive amount of time and resources trying to create a platform that would suit desktop computers and mobile devices perfectly. With Windows 8, it ended up failing pretty colossally on both counts. Windows 10 will see Microsoft try to dial back the crazy new features in an effort to calm the storm brought about by Windows 8, but there are probably still people out there who are looking for a solid mobile experience in the Windows environment.
The answer, as it turns out, may simply be Android.

If programs like Parallels can let you run Windows and OS X on the same machine, why can’t software let you run Windows and Android on the same machine? As it happens, there are a few different programs that let you run Android on a Windows PC, and Amidous is among them.
At just $10, the app is pretty affordable for a full-featured Android emulator, and it’s based on Android 4.2.2. An update to Android 5.0 Lollipop is due to be released this month, which means you can potentially run a newer version of Android on your Windows PC than the versions found on about 90% of all Android devices.
“AMIDuOS can run nearly all of the Android applications available in Android app markets,” the company says on its website. “To get you started, it comes with preloaded Amazon Appstore. To make AMIDuOS your own, simply add your favorite Android app markets with the AMIDuOS package installer. AMIDuOS is also ARM v7 compatible, so it can run most popular ARM applications as well.”
