When it comes to luxury goods, there are no shortage of products whose very existence defy explanation, both from a cost and utility perspective. Still, if people are willing to shell out big bucks for the absurd, you can always bet good money that someone is going to make that absurd dream a reality.

That said, bear witness to a picnic basket that quite literally costs a tad over $4,600. And just for the record, the basket doesn’t come pre-loaded with wads of cash.

Designed and manufactured by Aston Martin and Grant Macdonald, this picnic basket certainly talks a big game. The product description reads in part:

Take a loved one on the ultimate luxury picnic time and again with this finely crafted hamper, featuring rich, hand cut saddle-leather in a contemporary Aston Martin trim colour. Filled with platinum-detailed English fine bone china, Irish damask linen, stainless steel utensils and lead-free glass wear, all 28 components are securely stored and fastened inside. Finished with a Scottish lamb’s wool picnic rug, it is an item to treasure for ever more.

Aston Martin’s website further adds that the picnic basket is manufactured using “the finest quality materials,” including English Fine Bone China. What’s more, the color of the basket’s leather detailing can be tailored to the specifications of each individual owner, “perhaps even to match the interior of your car,” Aston Martin advertises.

That all sounds well and good, but at the end of the day you’re still dropping a couple thousand for a picnic basket. At the very least, it does come standard with an expansive set of silverware, a set which includes includes plates, crystal tumblers, stainless steel eating utensils, two stainless steel flasks, and last but not least, an Irish damask linen tablecloth.

Check out some more photos of this ridiculously priced picnic basket below. All the same, the craftsman ship here is undeniably top-notch.
