Assassin's Creed Unity Glitches

Earlier this week, Ubisoft released the first Assassin’s Creed game exclusive to the new-generation consoles. Assassin’s Creed Unity takes the series back to its roots, eschewing the naval combat and complicated modern day story of Black Flag for a more traditional adventure. Unfortunately, the game shipped with its fair share of bugs, resulting in plenty of negative reviews.

It’s bad news for fans of the series, but there is a silver lining: the bugs have led to some of the most entertaining glitches we’ve ever seen in a video game. The best (and most terrifying) involve characters not fully rendering on screen. For example, here is a lady without a face:

The no-face glitch is one of the most commonly reported issues, but there are countless more. In the following video, Arno, the game’s protagonist, is having a serious conversation with one of his accomplices. In the middle of their discussion, two NPCs suddenly appear in the room and attempt to interact with Arno, shouting over the cutscene:

Some players are also reporting that Arno is regularly falling through the world into an endless void of nothingness. Here’s video proof:

Ubisoft is fully aware of the shoddy state of its latest release and is planning to release an update soon which should fix the following issues:

  • Arno falling through the ground.
  • Game crashing when joining a co-op session.
  • Arno getting caught inside of hay carts.
  • Delay in reaching the main menu screen at game start.

Future updates will supposedly address frame rate issues, but for now, we’ll just sit back and enjoy the insanity of the glitches.
