Watch live: How to watch streaming video from Apple’s iPhone 6s event

Apple’s September event is shaping up to be its biggest event in years, which is pretty crazy considering the focus of today’s big press conference is just an “S” upgrade. Nope, you won’t get any new iPhone designs this year. But instead, you’ll get a whole truckload of brand new Apple gear ranging from new iPhones and the largest iPad ever to a completely redesigned Apple TV and possibly even a new Apple Watch model or two.

The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are obviously going to be the stars of Wednesday’s big event. Of this, there is no question. Apple fans have plenty to look forward to with the iPhone range, including new 3D Touch Displays, a 12-megapixel camera, a new A9 processor, 2GB of RAM and more. But Apple has more in store than just iPhones.

Apple’s next-generation Apple TV is expected to feature a brand new touch-enabled remote, third-party app support and Siri. We also have a huge new iPad Pro to look forward to, as well as a new iPad mini.

What else does Apple have in store for us ahead of the holidays this year? You’ll just have to watch and find out.

Here’s how to stream live video from Apple’s September “Hey Siri” event on any iOS device, Mac, Apple TV, Windows PC or Android device:

On a Mac or iOS device

Apple will be streaming live video to Macs, iPhone, iPads and iPod touch devices on this page on the Apple website.

As usual, the caveat is that the stream will only work in “Safari on iOS 7.0 or later,” or “a Mac with Safari 6.0.5 or later on OS X v10.8.5 or later” according to a note on Apple’s site.

Windows

This year, believe it or not, Apple is actually supporting Windows devices with its live stream. Crazy, we know! The bad news is that you can only stream the event (without any workarounds) using Microsoft’s new Edge Browser on a Windows 10 PC.

Older Windows PCs and Android

Apple’s live stream is not officially available on any older Windows PCs or Android devices. There are always ways around Apple’s restrictions though, and you can make use of a user agent spoofer to get the event stream on your non-Apple devices.

If that doesn’t work for you, Windows users can also try this complex procedure from Reddit:

1. Download VLC Player from here: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html
2. Install it and everything, make sure it works correctly.
3. Open the program. Click on Media (top left) > Open Network Stream.

5. Paste this link* into that field: http://devimages.apple.com/iphone/samples/bipbop/gear1/prog_index.m3u8
6. Click Play. If you see a video with sound like so: http://puu.sh/bqVgs.jpg

You are all set and ready to watch the Live Stream tomorrow

*The actual link you need to paste into VLC [step 5] will obviously be different and will be live on the day of the event. Check back for the real live stream link and you can watch the stream on your Windows device

Apple TV

Finally, you can also watch the live video stream of today’s event on the big screen. All you need is a second- or third-generation Apple TV with version 6.2 or later of Apple’s operating system, and you should already see an “Events” channel near the top of the home screen. Open it, and you’ll be good to go.
