LG and Huawei will make this year’s new Nexus handsets, according to several reports, and a new leak seems to indicate that LG is indeed making a new version of the crowd favorite Nexus 5 — but it will feature a unique new design.

According to sources familiar with LG’s plans who spoke with AndroidPit, LG will not base the new Nexus 5 on the LG G4 flagship phone. In previous years, LG’s Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 were primarily based on their corresponding G-branded handsets.
In fact, it’s not even clear whether the new LG Nexus phone will be sold as the Nexus 5 (2015) or whether it’ll have a new name.
Launch information is still a mystery, although a recent report said the phone could be released earlier than anticipated. The phone might hit stores once Android M is ready to roll out this August rather than in October or November, which would be in line with earlier Nexus releases.
Google has not shared details about its Nexus plans for 2015, but it did say that Android M will support USB-C charging and a fingerprint sensor. These might be some of the hardware features of new Nexus devices in 2015. The company already showed off a custom Nexus 5 device that had a fingerprint sensor on the back in a video for developers at Google I/O.
