Although we weren’t supposed to see it until the end of the week, someone managed to get their hands on the first full trailer for Star Trek Beyond and upload it to YouTube on Monday. Unfortunately for our American audience, the trailer is in German, but it’s a good look at what you can expect from the film anyway.
DON’T MISS: Watch the first trailer for ‘Independence Day: Resurgence’
The previous two films in the rebooted franchise took themselves rather seriously, but the scenes present in the trailer for Beyond look especially wacky, even in comparison to the goofier moments from Star Trek and Into Darkness. Whether or not this will be a lighter movie on the whole remains to be seen, but that’s certainly the impression I get from the trailer.
UPDATE: The full, English trailer can now be seen below.
Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, John Cho and Anton Yelchin will all reprise their roles from the first two films. Idris Elba and Sofia Boutella will join the cast as well, with Elba scheduled to play the villain. Justin Lin will be taking over for J.J. Abrams as director.
Now that the trailer has leaked, Paramount might decide to go ahead and publish the official trailer today, but either way, the full HD English trailer will appear in front of The Force Awakens this weekend.
Star Trek Beyond will hit theaters on July 22nd, 2016.
