The Nintendo Switch is the hottest video game console in the world right now, hands down. It’s also next to impossible to actually find one. Well, that’s not entirely true. You can easily buy a Nintendo Switch on Amazon right now and have it shipped to your door in no time, but you’ll have to pay a premium for the privilege. If you want one at retail, however, you’re almost certainly out of luck.
As we told you earlier today, several GameStop locations around the country received Nintendo Switch shipments on Wednesday, giving gamers a rare opportunity to score a console in a brick and mortar store. If this is the first time you’re learning about it, however, you’re almost certainly too late to get one for yourself. Don’t worry though, because you won’t have to wait as long as you think if you follow the instructions we’re about to lay out in this post.
You know how stock of new Apple devices like iPhones and AirPods is so tight at launch, a bunch of websites were created just to monitor inventory and notify you when it’s replenished? Well since the Nintendo Switch is so popular — and since supply is so tight right now — there’s a website that does the exact same thing, but for Switch consoles.
NowInStock.net is one of a few well-known stock trackers out there. Since the Switch is so popular and so difficult to find right now, the site has a special page dedicated to Nintendo Switch stock. You’ll see all of the major online and brick and mortar stores laid out on that page, and there’s an indication next to each one that shows whether or not the Switch is in stock. As you might have guessed, it’s not.
That’s where the free notification features come into play. Visit this page to set up alerts, and the site will notify you as soon as the Switch is in stock. You have the option to configure special alerts just for specific stores, but the site is so popular right now that many users are experiencing delays.
In light of those issues, the site has also created a special Google group for instant alerts, but it’s all or nothing with this option — signing up means you’ll be alerted every time any store or website has the Switch in stock. Of course, that’s a small price to pay if it means having the chance of scoring a new Switch console sometime soon.
