Award shows like the Golden Globes and the Emmys have a long history of memorable opening numbers, with Conan O’Brien’s opening montage during 2006 Emmys arguably setting a bar of excellence that has yet to be rivaled. Yesterday, the cold opener for the 2017 Golden Globes delivered a star-studded La La Land parody that might give the aforementioned O’Brien clip a run for its money.

With Jimmy Fallon assuming hosting duties, the 2017 Golden Globes kicked off with Fallon singing to himself in a limo before giving way to a rousing 5-minute song and dance featuring a who’s who of movie and TV stars. For those unfamiliar, the entire clip is itself a parody of the incredibly creative opening to La La Land, the award-winning and critically acclaimed movie starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.

The list of stars in Fallon’s La La Land parody is impressive and features a wide-ranging cast of characters, including Jon Snow of Game of Thrones fame, the kids from Stranger Things, along with quick shout-outs to shows like Westworld and Mr. Robot. And that’s to say nothing of great cameos from Tina Fey, Justin Timberlake and many more. And for good measure, we also learned that Barb from Stranger Things is not only alive, but is quite the synchronized swimmer.

The entire clip can be viewed below.
