We’re just two episodes away from the conclusion of this year’s Game of Thrones season, and a first trailer for episode 9 is already available, teasing what looks like the massive war that we’ve been aching for. The trailer has some major spoilers, so make sure you don’t read any further until you’ve caught up with the current episodes in HBO’s sixth season of Thrones.

From the get-go, it’s clear that House Stark, with a makeshift army, is about to face off with the Boltons, who seem to have the edge on the battlefield. Two bastards are going to lead the armies, with Jon Snow facing Ramsay Bolton. Technically Sansa Stark is also in charge of the Stark forces, though she won’t actually do any of the fighting. And Sansa is very much aware of the danger that lies ahead.
What’s clear from the trailer is that a war is coming. The two armies will face each other, and it will be bloody. Just look at Ser Davos.
The new trailer tells Game of Thrones fans that Jon Snow is pretty determined to not have to be resurrected again, suggesting two things: a) that anything is on the table, including a second Snow death, no matter how unlikely that sounds, and b) that HBO won’t troll us again if he does die.
The trailer doesn’t reveal other major details. We have no idea if the Tullys will come to Sansa’s aid, if Littlefinger has received the message, or whether Catelyn Stark (as Lady Stoneheart) will return to the show. Also, there’s The Hound and the Brotherhood without Banners to be taken into consideration.
