Cons
Mild distraction from the backlight
The Govee Envisual uses a 1080p Colorsense camera to project the on-screen colors to the Govee TV backlights. However, this immersion experience could be distracting for some content, dividing your attention from the action on the TV to the glow behind.
One can avoid this by dimming the brightness of the LED lights, but this would reduce the intensity of the light’s glow on the wall. Dim LED lights may also mean a smoother color blend from the on-screen projection.
Note that this may not apply to everyone as some people watch tv without being easily distracted from other live action.
Stickers could ruin the TV
Gluing 12.5ft of TV LED Backlights to your TV, particularly if it is a thin OLED TV, could be tiresome. You wouldn’t want to ruin your expensive TV because the orange calibration stickers are very powerful.
To avoid ruining your screen, reduce its stickiness by patting them lightly on a clean cloth before usage.
Installation could be tedious if you are not hands-on.
If you are not experienced with installing gadgets, the TV backlight installation process could be tedious. This is because you want to align the light strips as perfectly as possible. You would have to be extra careful when aligning the strip lights. Else, your TV could lose balance and get damaged.
Installation difficulty for curved TVs
Those with regular flat screens may experience difficulty aligning the light strip when approaching the corners. Gratefully, Govee includes a bag of adhesive clamps in the package, but this doesn’t entirely solve the issue. I mean, how about users with curved TVs?
Please understand that it is still possible to align your light strip on your curved TV. However, it would not be presentable if the light strip is visible or dangling after installation. In cases of curved TV installation, the adhesive clamps may not entirely be able to hide the strips perfectly.
To avoid this, curved TV users should get the basic kit that comes with 2 Smart light bars instead. Each light bar
