Which OnePlus Phones Will Get The Android 18 Update?

OnePlus has left the U.S. market, but you might be wondering if the company will continue after-sales support in the future. Especially since some third-party retailers still have the OnePlus 15R and OnePlus 15 in stock. But if you are to get your hands on one now, how many updates will the phone get, and if you own an older model, will it make it to Android 18? The latest OnePlus phones are currently on OxygenOS 16, which is based on Android 16. OnePlus released OxygenOS 16 in North America in December 2025, about seven months after Google released the final stable version of Android 16.

Android 18 is expected to release in mid-2027; OPPO and OnePlus will likely have the next major Android update rolled out a few months after, based on the update history. OnePlus phones with multiple years of support since 2024 should be eligible for Android 18. Regarding whether it's worth keeping or buying a OnePlus phone in 2026, OnePlus said current users in Europe and North America will receive after-sales support, and all software updates and warranties will be honored, meaning the process stays the same as any other manufacturer still servicing phones in the region.

The most likely OnePlus phones to receive the Android 18 update

However, if you're in the market for a second-hand OnePlus device, note that the company also doesn't offer long-term software support like Samsung and Google do. Still, OnePlus phones usually get four major Android updates and about five or six years of security patches; that's for both flagship and midrange devices. At the same time, budget Nord N models get only about a year of updates and two to three years of security patches. That means OnePlus models released in 2024 or later are eligible for Android 18, assuming no delays with the release schedule:

  • OnePlus 12 (the OnePlus 12R stops at Android 17)
  • OnePlus 13 series (13, 13R, 13S, and 13T)
  • OnePlus Nord 4
  • OnePlus Nord 5
  • OnePlus Nord 6
  • OnePlus Nord CE 5
  • OnePlus Nord CE 6 and CE 6 Lite

You can also expect the OnePlus 16 series, OnePlus Nord 7, and possibly the OnePlus 17 to support Android 18, but these phones won't be available in the U.S.

What should you expect from Android 17 and Android 18 on OnePlus

OnePlus phones have OxygenOS installed, which is still separate from ColorOS in the U.S. However, that will no longer be the case, as ColorOS will be the unified custom Android skin on OnePlus phones going forward — technically, they already share the same codebase. The transition to the new, more bloat-heavy or feature-rich OS should happen when Android 17 releases. North American OnePlus phones that should receive ColorOS 17 (based on the Android 17 update) should also be expected to update to ColorOS 18. This upgrade is optional, but after OxygenOS 16, the software will no longer be available.

Normally, when a major stock Android update is released, manufacturers take time to release it with their custom skin update, usually to ensure compatibility with the software layer. The bad news for European and North American users is that they won't be able to join the beta program directly without changing their region through a non-local SIM card. Normally, OnePlus has always had an open and closed beta test program you could apply for through the About phone settings, but availability depended on region. Now, with the official market exit, users won't be able to test features before they're released.
