I still remember years and years ago when I first learned that a Wi-Fi range extender is a thing that exists. It was truly a glorious day. I was young at the time in my first apartment, I was pretty much broke, and I had a Wi-Fi router that was basically falling apart. I didn’t have a balcony or anything at the time, but I did have a pretty big fire escape that my friends and I used to hang out on all the time. The only problem was that my Wi-Fi network just couldn’t seem to reach the fire escape reliably, so being out there meant being without Wi-Fi.

I had no interest in spending a bunch of money on a new router, so I just lived like that for months and months. Then one day I finally had a friend over who asked why I didn’t just get a Wi-Fi extender. The answer was simple: I had no idea that such a thing existed. But when I finally got one and set it up, it was a total game-changer for me. Now, I always make sure to cover deals on Wi-Fi range extenders so that other people might share in that simple but significant experience.

That brings us to Amazon’s deals on Friday, which offer fantastic prices on two different popular Wi-Fi extenders. The first is the TP-Link TL-WA855RE Wi-Fi Range Extender, which happens to be the best-selling model on Amazon’s entire site. It’s down to just $17.99 on Amazon.

TP-Link TL-WA855RE Wi-Fi Range Extender

Despite its compact size, it may be hard to ignore the TL WA855RE due to the truly impressive way that it projects Wi-Fi access into the areas of your home that your standard router simply cannot reach. The TL WA855RE supports wireless speeds of up to 300Mbps and keeps all of your favorite devices running as fast as possible. Comparable to NETGEAR N300 WiFi Range Extender (EX2700)

Maximum wireless transmission rates are the physical rates derived from IEEE Standard 802.11 specifications. Range and coverage specifications along with the number of connected devices were defined according to test results under normal usage conditions. Actual wireless transmission rate, wireless coverage, and number of connected devices are not guaranteed and will vary as a result of 1) environmental factors, including building materials, physical objects, and obstacles, 2) network conditions, including local interference, volume and density of traffic, product location, network complexity, and network overhead and 3) client limitations, including rated performance, location, connection quality, and client condition. Frequency Range: 2.4~2.4835GHz; Interface Available: 1 x 10/100M Ethernet Port (RJ45); System Requirement: Microsoft Windows 98SE NT 2000 XP Vista or Windows 7 8 8.1 10 Mac OS NetWare UNIX or Linux.; Wireless Standards: IEEE 802.11n IEEE 802.11g IEEE 802.11b

The second one is slightly more expensive TP-Link RE220 Wi-Fi Range Extender, but the difference in price is negligible and you get a lot more bang for your buck. First, it has a newer design with no moving parts. Second, it offers better coverage. And third, since it supports Wi-Fi AC, it’s more than twice as fast with data speeds up to 750Mbps instead of 300Mbps like the cheaper model. It retails for $35, but it’s down to $24.99 today thanks to a discount and an on-site discount. This is the first time in a while it’s been down to that price without a coupon, which means it’s the first time in a while you can buy more than one at the discounted price.

TP-Link RE220 Wi-Fi Range Extender

RE220 expands your existing Wi-Fi coverage with next generation 11AC Wi-Fi technology. It works with any standard Wi-Fi router and creates stronger dual band connections in hard-to-reach areas, allowing you to enjoy seamless wireless coverage throughout your home or office. RE220 provides APS (Adaptive Path Selection), with APS, dual-band or tri-band range extender can dynamically select the best backhaul connection between 2.4/5G/5G2 to ensure RE to the router have the best connection, and in such way maintain a better overall Wi-Fi performance.
