It doesn’t matter that the man in this ad is short on hair or wearing a truly courageous set of white lycra. The confidence with which he undertakes his art — all thanks to his iPhone™ — makes him stand out like you never will.
Apple’s latest iPhone ad is here just in time for the last round of the World Series, and I’d say it’s the best to date. Overtly, it’s only focusing on one thing: the new speakers. The idea is that the stereo speakers don’t sound like crap, so you won’t be afraid to use them in a public place.
(Side note: I take issue with Apple endorsing the playing of phone music in public places, since when that happens on a public bus, it makes me want to exit through the nearest available window.)
It also uses a puddle of water very cleverly, demonstrating the power of the speakers and the phone’s water resistance rather admirably. You’ll also notice that no headphones (or headphone jacks!) are necessary in this particular Apple world.
But aside from the well-thought-out iPhone demos, it’s an all-around good piece of cinematography. It makes you want to make a big deal out of everyday life, since in your head, colors are more dramatic and there’s always a backing track.
Much as it pains me to endorse an ad from a company that really doesn’t need any extra publicity, it’s worth the spare minute out of your life, even just to see the most majestic of sunglass removals.
