We already know that Alden Ehrenreich is the actor chosen to play young Han Solo in the Star Wars spinoff movie set to premiere on May 25, 2018. But casting isn’t anywhere near finished for the film, as Disney is currently looking for the female lead who will probably play Han Solo’s love interest.

Han Solo may be in love with Princess Leia all through the original trilogy and the third trilogy — well, at least while he’s alive in that one — but let’s not forget that he’s been around the block. He’s a smuggler who leads a certain type of life. He shot first, and he was married when he met Leia.

According to Variety, Tessa Thompson (Selma and Creed), Naomi Scott (Power Rangers), and Zoe Kravitz have all tested for the female lead in the upcoming movie. It’s not clear at this time who the mystery female character is, but directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller have been meeting talent for the part. Additionally, they conducted a second run of tests for the part of young Lando Calrissian. Rumors say that Donald Glover might get the part, but a second round of tests is apparently still needed.

Production will start in early 2017 for the untitled Han Solo film, which is probably one of the most anticipated Star Wars movies that aren’t included in any of the three main sagas.

The casting for Solo was the most difficult part for the production team, with thousands of actors auditioning for the part. According to Variety, the Solo casting was one of the largest and longest processes since Universal’s search for Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey.
