The Pokemon Go craze has spawned an entire new breed of apps as developers come up with various resources that can help players. After one developer had figured out how to extract data from the game to create a map of Pokemon spawn locations, we started seeing a bunch of implementations of the hack, each one easier to use than the last. But these maps will only tell you what kind of Pokemon are spawning near you and how long they’re going to be available in that location. If you’re looking for a map that features Pokestops and gyms, then you need a different type of app and we’ve got just the thing.
Called PokemonGoMap, the Google Maps-based site displays more than 2.3 million Pokestops and gym locations, which should make playing Pokemon Go much easier. The service was launched on Friday and it’s available free of charge right inside your browser.
Users can vote and comment on these locations, with some 5,000 new registered members signing up for the service each day. You can sign up with your Google account and you can easily request a scan of your area and report sightings.
As you can see in the image above, Pokestops and gyms are layered on top of Google Maps. Clicking on a cube will get you more information about that location, and let you take additional actions such as commenting, marking a site as a gym, or asking for it to be removed if you find an error.
If you don’t have time to roam around in search of Pokestops and gyms but still want to play the mobile game as much as you can, then PokemonGoMap might be the perfect tool, in addition to the map hacks that show you where Pokemon spawn around you.
