People always find fun, creative and useful things to do with Google’s open source tools, and this latest project can be filed under all three of those categories. Some people have the time and the money to travel the world and see everything they want to see, but the rest of us have to pick and choose our destinations carefully. You might never make it to Machu Picchu or the Great Barrier Reef, but now you can experience the next best thing thanks to a great new website called Jumper.

Imagine never being able to visit Times Square to meet the naked cowboy in person. Thankfully, Jumper can make you feel like you’re right there with him. The site uses Google Street View and adds a realistic soundtrack to let you visit far away places and explore them to your heart’s content. In New York, as seen in the image above, you’ll hear the hustle and bustle of Times Square. Atop Mount Everest, the wind will haunt you as you make your way around camp.

It’s a very fun site, and there are some great locations that are currently supported including The White House, Stonehenge, the Pyramids and our personal favorite, “hot tub monkeys.”

This link will take you straight to the Jumper website so you can check it out.
