The Google Photos app will offer support for storing unlimited photos (up to 16-megapixel) and videos (up to 1080p) in the cloud. The best thing about it is that it’s all free to the user.
That’s right, the Google Photos app will automatically back up your videos and photos at the highest quality that’s currently supported and make them available on a variety of devices, without you having to pay anything for storing them in Google’s cloud.
Comparatively, Apple offers users just 5GB of free cloud storage. For more storage, users have to pay from $1 (20GB) to $20 (1TB) per month, depending on their needs.
On top of it being free, the other great thing about Google Photos is that the app is available to users starting today, meaning they won’t have to wait for Android M to roll out to enjoy the app’s brand new features, and especially the free unlimited cloud backup offer. In fact, the app is also available on iOS and the web, the company said.
