Nest on Tuesday announced a new software version for its Nest thermostat that brings even more features, including increased efficiency that can save you extra money on your heating bill.

After being updated to software version 4.3, the thermostat will receive an enhanced Auto-Schedule feature to improve its efficiency. Auto-Schedule lets Nest automatically learn the temperatures the user likes, without the user having to program it.

“Auto-Schedule can now help you save up to 6% more on your heating and cooling bills by learning new schedules quickly and adapting to changes better,” the company wrote. “So when your schedule shifts – like when summer’s over and the kids are back at school – Nest can now catch on faster that the temperature adjustments you’re making are part of a new pattern rather than just one-off changes.”

Furthermore, the Nest 4.3 update brings a Quick View mode that lets users access information including the time and outside temperature on the thermostat, as well as other information. “Push the ring once and you’ll see weather, outdoor temp and humidity. Turn the ring and you’ll see a quick summary of everything you need to know, like how much energy you used yesterday or what’s next on your schedule. Instead of having to scroll through settings and menus, all the info you need for the day will be right on the display,” the company said.

Time and weather support is available for more countries, Nest revealed.

Finally, the update brings a System Test features that lets users check whether their system is working properly or not.

The Nest 4.3 software update should be rolled out automatically to users, in case it hasn’t already been installed yet — more details about it are available at the source link.
