After purchasing the mobile arm of Nokia, Microsoft decided that all Nokia branding from its Windows Phone mobile devices must go, and instead be replaced by Lumia. The company is ready to make the transition from Nokia Lumia to Microsoft Lumia, and has posted images of what the new branding will look like on the Nokia blog.

FROM EARLIER: Is the Surface slowly starting to pay off for Microsoft?

“This is a very exciting time for us and for Lumia products,” Microsoft vice president of marketing for phones Tuula Rytilä said. “You might have seen that in the last couple of months, we have already made some name changes to our apps to better reflect that these apps now come from Microsoft.”

The exec further revealed that a Microsoft Lumia device will be launched soon, without mentioning any other details about it.

The Nokia name, a strong brand that’s likely recognized by many potential smartphone buyers, will not die completely. But Microsoft will only use it for entry-level phones, like the Nokia 130. “We have licensed the Nokia brand for such devices,” Rytilä added.
