It’s incredibly hard to take an established property and convert it from one medium to another. The rate of success for movies and TV shows being adapted into video games seems to be getting a little better every year (see: Shadow of Mordor, the LEGO games), but there are still plenty of franchises that have yet to have their day in the sun. Game of Thrones is one of them, but Telltale Games could finally give the fantasy phenomenon its due later this year.

FROM EARLIER: This is what the Westeros should really look like on HBO’s Game of Thrones

Telltale’s Game of Thrones adventure game is based on the HBO TV series, taking place between the end of season three and the beginning of season five. Plenty of landmarks from the series, including King’s Landing and The Wall, will appear in Telltale’s game, but there will be unfamiliar locations as well that have only appeared in the books up to this point.

The game tells the story of House Forrester, a noble house from the north of Westeros that is loyal to the Stark family (which has all but fallen apart by the time the story of the game picks up).

“You will play the game from five different points of view,” Telltale explains on its blog. “Each character you play as is a member of House Forrester; either a direct family member, or a person in service to the House. Scattered across Westeros and Essos, each character will play their part in seeking to save House Forrester from destruction.”

There will be six episodes in the series, and Telltale plans to release the first episode before the end of the year. All six episodes will be available on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, iOS, Mac and PC.
