Samsung will unveil its next-gen flagship smartphone on September 3rd at IFA 2014, and start selling it in stores almost immediately thereafter to fight against the upcoming phablet version of the iPhone 6. With a few weeks to go until Samsung announces the handset, various Galaxy Note 4 images have already been leaked, showing what the Galaxy Note 4 may look like. On top of that, Phone Arena has also scored a picture from an anonymous tipster that reportedly reveals the retail box of the handset.

The box features a large, square smartphone that’s similar to the handset shown in leaked images, although Samsung has yet to confirm it. On the display, the box has a September 15th date, which could be indicative of the phone’s rumored release date.

Rather than looking like the retail box of the Galaxy Note 4 or Galaxy S5 – both had a recycled box style – this leaked Galaxy Note 4 retail box has “a metallic pattern that is also suggestive of new materials that could have been used in Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4,” as the publication puts it.

Samsung already confirmed it’ll launch a flagship handset and a smartphone featuring new materials in the second half of 2014, likely referring at the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy Alpha, respectively, without saying whether the Galaxy Note 4 will actually feature such new materials. The leaked Galaxy Note 4 images seem to indicate the phone will have a plastic back and metallic sides, just like the Galaxy Alpha.

The purported Galaxy Note 4 retail box picture follows below.
