OnePlus to launch its highly anticipated Android phone in 16 countries

With less than two weeks to go until the OnePlus One CyanogenMod-running Android handset will be officially launched, the company has started sharing more details about the device, on top of the already known hardware and pricing structure. OnePlus on Thursday started teasing the launch countries for its flagship handset revealing two of them in the process.

According to the company’s social accounts, there will be 16 countries getting the smartphone, in line with the company’s “more than 10 markets” claim, which is the initial number it mentioned in an ask-me-almost-anything session on Reddit. Of those, only two countries have been revealed so far, including Austria and Germany, with the company expected to list the others in the following weeks.

In a more detailed announcement on its forums on Wednesday, the company talked about the OnePlus shopping experience it plans to offer buyers, saying that its goal is to “make the OnePlus online shopping experience as friendly to the user as possible.”

“To accomplish this, we chose to focus on three areas: localization, logistics and customer service,” the company said.

OnePlus will create local shopping websites for various markets, from where users will be able to buy the One in their own language, and pay for it in local currency. The company will also have warehouses in various regions, where it plans to have One stock, which will be shipped to local buyers. Finally, the company plans to offer online customer service, but also local customer support in its warehouses which will act as service locations for defective units.

The OnePlus One will be priced at less than $400 (less than €350 in Europe,) and will be officially launched on April 23rd in China.
