Motorola and Verizon holding press event October 18th, smartphones and tablets inbound

Events

Motorola has just sent out invitations to a press event with Verizon Wireless on October 18th in New York City, and if a variety of leaks over the past few weeks are accurate, we should see some awesome new hardware unveiled. There should be multiple updates to the Motorola XOOM tablet, a Motorola XOOM 2 and a XOOM 2 Media Edition, as well as a new Motorola DROID HD (Motorola DROID RAZR) — a set of next-generation devices that will get any Android fan worked up. We’ll be there covering it live, so make sure to tune in next Tuesday. Hit the break for a teaser video.

would’ve been cool if they played off “harder faster better stronger” a little better….altho that would probably work better for a Toughbook commercial. bring on some nexus hotness.

If you’re able to read – this is a Motorola and Verizon event. In whereas, the new XOOM and DROID HD may possibly be announced. We all know that Samsung is again, carrying the Nexus line this year. Still will not stop you from buying more crap though. Will it?

i was insinuating this was going to be a boring event compared to what’s coming.

Me being the Apple fan that I am, I’m still very curious to see what Samsung and Google have come up with. I’m just sick of these carrier and OEM skinned “superphones”

    Droid HD/ DROID RAZR?

SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY

    • Anonymous

If the Nexus wasn’t imminent, I might be compelled. But I’m tired of overlays, irrespective of who’s making them.

    • Anonymous

They will, only to release a better one a month from then and guess what? They’ll take your money AGAIN you drone!

      • Anthony Etter

I hope verizon’s loyalty program is up before the sale of this “super phone” Rumor has it is a DROID loyalty program which means, you will probably will be able to upgrade to this early or whatever but not the nexus.

    awww shiiiet

Yes finally the big DROID event! I can’t wait. Prolly not gonna have any where near 1 million preorders but at least we have highest market share…and widgets.

    • Anonymous

NORM, you are hilarious. Thank you.

    • Anonymous

We? So you do work for Google.

That sounds like a concession.  Although Apple would like to have a larger market share they definately enjoy a greater share of the profit, they make more per phone than any other phone manufacturer.  With three market points 200.00, 100.00, and FREE I am curious to see how the market share changes in the coming months.

4 Days too late Moto… 4 days too late.

  • Sean76

As a DROID Bionic owner….Maybe they should fix the Auto Focus problem on the camera before dropping a new device one month later!

    • RIMsucks

No shit. Moto cameras are terrible.

Is this a Kayne West event?

    • http://twitter.com/boldoliver boldoliver

with Daft Punk on his side =D and some Shibuya gurls~

  • Bringit

    fail

  • Frank G.

This is not the DROID we are looking for!!!!!!!

    • Sean76

hahahaha….nope! Samsung, come out, come out, wherever I are!

      • Anthony Etter

actually the nexus most likely wont be a droid phone. The nexus is its own branded name, just like the droid is for some of verizon’s phones.

You’d think that since the event will be in NYC, the date would be in an American format (mm/dd/yy). It’s a small detail, but then again it is an event that will be on American soil regarding two American companies.

godam*it!! If they release a upgraded bionic this early I’m going to fuc*ing shi* my pants and have a temper tantrum!!! ARRRGGHHH!! okay i’m done… Seriously though, I hope this is some tiny phone like 3.5″ plus and like a new razr. As long as it has a smaller screen than the bionic, I won’t have to justify buying another new phone literally a month after I got delicious bionic…

someone needs a diaper change… (and I would hope you created your eBay account already)

Agreed, competition is a b!tch for those that wait and wait and wait and finally screw up on the decision to end the wait. My wait will end on the next VZW Galaxy device, whatever that ends up being.

      • Sean76

I didn’t wait…lol! But moto will get zero cents from me moving forward, Bionic going on ebay, and the Prime will be mine!!

    • http://www.jeffkibuule.com Jeff Kibuule

I consider the Bionic a dud because it was released 3 months later than it needed to be and there are plenty of phones in the upcoming holiday season that will trounce it.

  • Eric Bodrero

Motorola will get exactly NO more of my money after the Droid 1 fiasco.

    • Sean76

      Agreeeeed!

      • slav

I enjoyed the KRZR, not getting any moto phone after that though

    • http://twitter.com/heymistermix mistermix

      Same here.

    • Anonymous

What about the Xoom 1 fiasco?  HAHAHAHA

      • Anonymous

It’s still on-going, Motorola will not commit to a definitive timeline for hardware upgrades but, the rumor mill suggests 2012 Q3. Until then, just wait and continue making your monthly subsidy payments.

    • http://twitter.com/NatesVlogs Nate Fisher

I’m just unimpressed with motorola in general. the bionic is ok I hate all of their recent designs and their skin. I hope they’re not in charge of any Nexus devices

  • http://www.jeffkibuule.com Jeff Kibuule

For a US-centric Motorola ad, why is the date backwards? O_o

    • Anonymous

Obviously, you never attend R.S.V.P. functions?

During this press conference Verizon will announce that they invented all wireless products and services and that they have every square inch of the USA covered with 4 + bars of service.

  • http://twitter.com/khanam Amir Khan

anybody else notice the homage to the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy with “42″ flashing for the deep thought computer’s answer? Cool creative!

  • Doomsoldier

If you slowed this down by a factor of 4 and added naked dancing ladies, it would look like the opening credits to a James Bond movie.

  • Anonymous

Uh oh..Samsung will not be happy. Now Google is showing its true colors to Samsung. Aren’t Google folks supposed to announce first the Nexus Prime? AHA! Sammy will be so pissed and will adopt Windows Mango instead.

  • Anonymous

cool promo could have done without the guy’s heavy breathing at the end. but really cool none the less.

  • Paul M

    All competition is good.

  • http://twitter.com/yzerman19fraz yzerman19fraz

i really want the new Nexus but I dont like samsungs build quality. if it a was a Moto nexus i would pay twice as much for this phone than i paid for my Bionic. I just want stock android. I’ve had a OG Droid a Droid X and now a Bionic, I really miss my OG droid, just because it was stock. Motorola should just go stock and that would differentiate them from the rest of the competition.

  • http://twitter.com/heynow_1 heynow_1

Yea…will be available in next 6-18 months if you are lucky…lol

    Not falling for it :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/omgitzjose Jose Guitian Cicero

all the razor references im almost possitive this will be the droid razr and if not then thats just dumb!

  • Anonymous

I don’t know why, but I got an OG Droid vibe from that spot.

How cool would it be if Moto kept the RAZR line pure AOSP?  This way customers would have a choice of Moto enhanced and plain Vanilla handsets.

Motorola keeps commiting the same mistake: they focus on hardware instead of software.

The same happens to all the other Android-phone manufacturers.

Android coding is buggy and freezy in the very same way the non-NT windows were: 95,98,2000,ME.

Google has become an equivalent to the 90′s Microsoft but for phones.
